Subject:Boat in the Blue

I have recently obtained a second copy of Doug Pereira's book, "Boat in the Blue". I have had my original edition since its publication in 1985, so this one is surplus to requirement. Consequently, it is free to the first Club Member who calls me and stakes a claim. Just one condition, the claimant must make a donation to Club Funds. ( For your information:- Amazon's price ranges from £25 for a used copy and £200 for the one New Copy) This copy on offer, is pristine and I defy anyone to tell the difference between it and a new copy. I'm not expecting anyone to match Amazon, but any donation to the Club will be most welcome.
I look forward to your phone calls and good luck to the first caller.
You will find my home details on the Club Membership List.
Regards to all,
John Parsons

Many thanks for the latest copy of "Webfoot". Each copy brings back many memories of my time in the RAF. It is sad that many of my old shipmates are no longer with us. Still it is good to see that they are remembered in articles in the magazine. Once again many thanks to those involved in producing such a good magazine as I am sure that it takes considerable time of research.

To all members that ask whether we can stop these spammer idiots posting on this page, then simply as it is open to the public NO.
But I am notified of every entry by e-mail and as soon as I pick up that notification I can delete or amend as necessary.
However as I am not on the computer 24/7 they sometimes remain on for a few hours or at most a day.
So I hope this answer your queries.
The next edition of Webfoot will be at the printers this week so will be with you all very soon.
Barry

Hello to all. I served on 1125MCU RAF Gan between 74 and 75. Being an aircraft tradesman(L Fitt AC) it was a bit of a culture shock to be on boats but over the years has been a great talking point. I also did a tour on 202sqd D Flight RAF Lossiemouth so did both ends so to speak. Going back to Gan for a holiday Feb 2016 as have always wanted to. Regards to all who may remember me.

Subject:Wearing of poppies

Here in Scotland we wear an entirely different poppy to that that is sold by British Legion south of the border. This green leaf that has appeared on the poppy in recent years and has attracted comments from some PC brigade has no basic in fact. Since the first poppy appeared to remember the poppy fields of Flanders it was just a plain red flower. The wearing of the poppy is the significant thing and not some new reason attributed to it in recent years. In Scotland we do not have a green leaf and we are all aware the date and time of the armistice.

Subject:Wearing of poppies for Remembrance Day.

It was so interesting to see on TV how so many people although wearing their poppy with pride were unaware of the correct positioning of them.
Women should wear their poppy on their right side.
The red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives.
The black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much.
The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended.

If our generation are unaware of this I wonder how younger generations will ever know the meaning.
